Skinny Bitch Bun in the Oven:
A Gutsy Guide to Becoming
One Hot (and Healthy) Mother
By Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin

Rory Freedman and Kim Barnouin are the authors of the book Skinny Bitch which gave a brassy and sassy tone to changing the kind of food women eat. They are back with another book that focuses on the expecting mother - Skinny Bitch Bun in the Oven: A Gutsy Guide to Becoming One Hot (and Healthy) Mother!.

You will see the same tough language like "So you're knocked up, huh? Congratulations." Some will enjoy the irreverent tone and others won't. It is consistent throughout the book - even in chapter titles like Sugar is Satan, Carbs: Eat 'em Dumb-ass and What the Hell to Eat.

The What the Hell to Eat chapter lists some of the food you can eat - because they tell you not to eat "chicken, pigs, fish, milk, cheese or eggs." That leaves "fruits, vegetables, legumes, nuts, seeds and whole grains." Basically a Vegan Diet. If that works for you, they list a 4 week meal plan.

The recommendations are certainly not the mainstream dietary guidelines you will get from traditional medicine and government charts. As they say in a disclaimer (which they call a Bitchclaimer) "We're not gynos, so be sure to talk to your doctor about any of our recommendations."
