The Cathedral of St. John the Evangelist Helen D. Schubert Concert Series

Celebrating the life of the Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Co-sponsored by the Diocesan Office of Ministry to African-American Catholics

Composed of students from all areas of study, the Kentucky State University Concert Choir is a diverse organization that upholds the highest standards in performance as well as academics.

The choir tours the United States annually; has performed with several major orchestras; and frequently appears at music workshops, seminars, and professional conventions including the Southern & National Divisions of the American Choral Directors Association, and the Music Educators National Convention.

The choir also participates in several choral competitions and most recently received the top rating in the HBCU (Historic Black College) competition.

The Suspicious Cheese Lords

Don’t let their name deceive you - a whimsical translation of the Tallis motet, Suscipe quaeso Domino - the Suspicious Cheese Lords rank among the top a cappella male vocal ensembles in the U.S. Founded in 1996 by Clifton West, the Suspicious Cheese Lords specialize in the music of the Middle Ages and the Renaissance.

Since their inception, they have performed in a number of major venues in their hometown of Washington DC, including: St. Matthew RC Cathedral, National Cathedral, the Smithsonian, Pope John Paul II Cultural Center, National Gallery of Art, Georgetown University, as well as regular broadcasts on the Vox channel of XM Satellite Radio.

Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus, Baldwin Wallace Women’s Chorus, Baldwin Wallace Men’s Chorus

The Cleveland Orchestra Youth Chorus was founded in 1991 to raise awareness of choral music in the schools of northeastern Ohio and to encourage students to continue their choral activities through college and into adulthood. The 100 members of the Youth Chorus are in grades 9 to 12, representing 40 schools and communities in Northeast Ohio.

The Baldwin Wallace Women’s Chorus is a select ensemble of women attending Baldwin Wallace College. Most of the members are students attending the Conservatory of Music.

The Baldwin Wallace Men’s Chorus is in its first season. The ensemble includes students from the Conservatory of Music, students, faculty, and staff from Baldwin Wallace College, as well as members of the surrounding communities.

All concerts are free and open to the public. A free-will offering will be taken.

Free parking is available in the Cathedral Garage on the SE corner of Rockwell Ave. and East 9th St.
