The King and I

For two weekends in May, audiences can delight in the beloved Rodgers and Hammerstein musical, "The King and I" under the direction of Susan Abraham Sabetta. The cast and crew of Silhouette Productions will perform May 2, 3, 9 and 10 at 7pm and Sundays May 4 and 11 at 2pm in Euclid's historic Shore Cultural Centre Auditorium.

Roger Principe plays the role of The King. Kelly Wills performs as Anna. The supporting roles of Prince Chululongkorn the King's son and Anna's son Louis are filled by Ricky Ferlito and Ian Jones. The leading roles are complemented by a talented cast of adults and children. Familiar songs of the musical include "Getting To Know You", "Shall We Dance" and "Hello Young Lovers".

Ms. Abraham-Sabetta is only the third director in the theater company's history. Silhouette Productions was formed in the mid 1960's by the director's mother Florence Abraham. It started with musical revues and cabaret performances, and gradually grew to large community Broadway musical productions.

After Florence Abraham's death in 1972 Silhouette lay dormant until her son Charles Abraham, Jr breathed life back into the company. His productions included "Godspell", "The Wizard of Oz", "Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Coat" and "The Music Man". In 2005 during the production of "Peter Pan", Chuck Abraham tragically died. In the three years since, family and friends have maintained Silhouette's commitment to quality musical theater for the local community with performances of "Annie", "Oliver" and "The Little Shop of Horrors".

Silhouette Productions is unique in that it donates its proceeds to the restoration of Shore Cultural Centre and its renowned Auditorium. Shore is listed on the National Register of Historic Places. Affectionately known as The Grand Lady on the Triangle, Shore is hostess to various educational, cultural and social organizations.

Shore Cultural Centre is located at 291 E.222 in the heart of downtown Euclid. Coming east or west, take Route 2 and exit either Babbitt Rd or E.222. Head north to the triangle where the old high school sits. Free parking is available in front or back of the building.
