We visited on a Saturday at lunchtime. There are many lots around the restaurant and street parking as well. It's a little hard to find but if you travel North on West 9th Street it will be on the right-hand side (East) of the Street. It's North of Superior and St. Clair.

The Waterstreet's menu says "Good Food…Fun people. It is a very down-home restaurant serving standard foods. As more people move into and live in the Warehouse District downtown, they need a "regular" type restaurant to go to eat - you can't always eat at a 5-star, pricey place.

The menu includes breakfast choices from yogurt with granola and bananas at $2.50 to Steak and Eggs or Bagel with smoked salmon at $6.95.

The lunch menu we sampled had all the basics you would expect - BLT ($4.95), grilled cheese ($4.50), burgers, salads and even a hot dog ($3.95) and Peanut Butter and Jelly and banana ($3.50) plus a variety of more exotic items.

Appetizers included Hummus, Corn Fritters and Chicken Paprikash Soup. A large variety of salads are available as well as what they call Big Bowls - basically pasta dishes.

I sampled the Burger Blue ($7.95) which was a good sized burger with mushrooms, caramelized onions, blue cheese and fries.

A friend ordered the Meat Ball Hoagie ($5.95) which was served on an open hoagie bun that had a few slices of parmesan cheese, 3 medium size meatballs and a garlicky red sauce. Fries, onion rings or other sides had to be ordered extra.

Another guest enjoyed the Turkey Reuben ($6.25) which was a tasty and healthy replacement for the traditional corned beef Reuben.

Because it caters to the residents, they offer "Stick to the Ribs" menu selections available from 4-11PM. These entrees include Chicken and Biscuits at $8.95, Mom's Pot Roast for a dollar more and Chipotle rubbed pork tenderloin at $13.95.

Tip: There are no steps to get into the restaurant but if you need to use the restrooms, they are down a long flight of stairs. It's an old building and the restrooms reflect this.

The servers were very personable and efficient and were quick to refill drinks. They were willing to issue separate checks as well.

The Waterstreet Grill is not the place for a special occasion or to impress guests. It offers familiar food in a plain setting at reasonable prices. When compared to some of the glitzy establishments it borders in the trendy Warehouse District, those are not bad attributes to have.
