She made it! Well, through Round One anyway.
New York City was frigid, cold and windy, but you wouldn't know it to see the 14 models striking glamorous poses in Times Square, without the benefit of coats or sweaters.
Jacki nailed it! She really looked like a supermodel and as she said, once she got in front of the camera she didn't even notice the freezing temperatures. The photographer commented that she may be "a little skinny" but come on - she has all the right angles to be a supermodel.
The days start early and last late for these contestants. By 8:30 the next morning they were up and out and found themselves, again in the cold, in front of a bon fire! Tyson Beckford, the leading male supermodel of all time, challenged them to throw something (or everything) they were wearing into the fire - representing their willingness and strength of commitment to the process.
Next step - measurements! They were taken to a studio where they donned matching underwear and their measurements were taken and evaluations were made. This process will repeat every week. Although Jacki was told to "always keep her ears covered" she looked good and everyone could sense her passion.
Then came what could have been the end of Jacki. The catwalk was scheduled to be a swimsuit show. 2 men and 2 women were randomly chosen to wear a thong bathing suit instead of choosing from the racks of other swimwear.
Jacki and Shannon were chosen and Jacki refused to wear the thong. Shannon, possibly Jacki's biggest competition in the contest, did wear it and her performance was remarkable. (When asked, both Shannon and Holly listed Jacki as one of their biggest threats in the competition.)
Although Jacki voiced her displeasure with the thong, no one knew she wasn't going to wear it until she appeared on the cat walk in an alternate swim suit. The judges were not amused and even commented that in "real life she would be fired".
4 people stood before the judges waiting to hear which three America would have the chance to vote for. Jacki was one of the four. Tyson told her he expected more professionalism from her and that she let them down.
But in the end, Jacki narrowly escaped being put up for elimination and is safe to go on at least another week.
Voting only lasts until 3:00 Friday mornings (4 hours after the show ends). People are calling for an extension though, because the Bravo website was down and votes couldn't be cast.
Not all bloggers are happy with the judge's decision not to put Jacki up, claiming she didn't follow the rules and America should have had the chance to vote.
We're just happy it went the way it did. What do you think?
How did Jacki compare to the other models? Should she have worn the thong? Should she have been put up for the elimination vote? Who do you think is the strongest candidate to win?
Keep watching and come back for updates from Jacki, her mother and the show as ClevelandWomen.Com follows her through the process. Best of Luck, Jacki!
