Ulster Fry
- Typical Irish Breakfast

Ingredients:

  • 1 slice of extra thick bacon
  • 1 Irish sausage link
  • 1 wedge of Irish soda bread
  • 1 wedge of potato bread (or any heavy white bread)
  • 1 slices black pudding
  • 1 medium ripe tomato, cut in half
  • 1 medium egg
  • canola oil

Instructions:

  • Cook and brown bacon and sausage
  • Fry the wedges of Soda bread and potato bread
  • Heat the oil in a separate pan and cook the black pudding and tomato halves
  • Fry egg in pan, adding additional oil if necessary
  • All of the above is one serving. Should be served hot and eaten immediately
Note: Black pudding can be purchased or made from scratch. It is basically a sausage that includes animal blood. Some ethnic groups refer to it as blood sausage. Although a typical Ulster fry would have black pudding, white pudding could be substituted. White pudding is basically a sausage made with white meat, like chicken and some kind of grain. If you can't find (or don't want) either, it's still a wonderful breakfast and a great way to start the day.
