  3. November 11th was the official end of WWI. Actually it was on the 11th hour of the eleventh day of the eleventh month in 1918 when the war ended. Later (1921) an unknown soldier was buried on November 11th on a hillside overlooking the Potomac River in Arlington Cemetery. This gravesite has become a symbol for veterans.

  5. Yes. Canada and Australia recognize "Remembrance Day" on November 11th. Great Britain celebrates on the Sunday closes to November 11th.
