More Letters to Alpal

Dear Alpal,

I am going this weekend to get the new Harry Potter book. Are you? I can't wait. It is my favorite. Did you ever read The Lion the Witch and the Wardrobe? I like that too.

Dear Friend,

I did get the new Harry Potter book and I also went to the midnight party at Legacy Village. I had a great time!

I enjoyed the book too. I hope you did to.

I have read the first 3 books of the Lion, Witch, and the Wardrobe series, but I got to the 4th book, I didn't like it so I put it down.

Another series that is supposed to be a little like Harry Potter is called Charlie Bone.

I have never read them before, but I think my brother did. Maybe you will like them to.

Have a great summer!

Dear Alpal.

Pretty soon summer will be over and we haven't done anything. I keep telling my mom I want to go to Cedar Point but she keeps saying no. How do you get your mom to let you do things?

Tracy

Dear Tracy,

Sometimes I can't get my mom to do stuff either. Did you try making a deal with her? Like maybe if you have younger siblings, you will promise to be nice to them and hang out with them, or maybe babysit them for free and keep them occupied while your mom is doing something.

Or you could tell your mom since you have gotten good grades this year, it can be as a reward. And if you haven't gotten good grades you could promise to try your best next year.

You could also work it off, by like weeding or cleaning. If you are really desperate you could ask if you could pitch in a little bit of money to go. Maybe your mom wants to go, but summer isn't the best time, because you are so busy.

September and October are still good times to go, and there's always next summer. I hope your mom let's you go!

Hi Alpal,

I have a new puppy. her name is Cuddles because she is just like a ball of fur. Do you like dogs? I have a bird too. His name is Pete. Do you like birds? I think you said you have a dog.

Do you have to do all the work or do you have someone to help. My brother is only 6 so he can't help much. I just tell him to leave the puppy alone. I'll do it.

I like to read what you write. You write really good. Someday I want to be a writer. Do you?

Carolyn

Hi Carolyn,

Your new dog sounds soooooooooooooooo cute!!

I bet she is very furry. I LOVE dogs! They are so cute and fun to play with.

Your bird sounds cool too. I've always wanted a bird, but my mom won't let me get one. She doesn't like them very much.

I like the neon colored ones that are blue or green, or like a parrot or a cockatoo. I really like birds.

I do have a dog. His name is Riley. He is a cockapoo which is part cocker spaniel and part poodle. He is so funny! Me and my brother who is 10 years old sort of split the work. I exercise him and my brother cleans up after him in the yard.

As for feeding him, usually the first person awake and downstairs will feed him, so he's kind of a family project, but me and my brother still do a lot of the work.

Thanks! I'm glad you like my work. I don't know if I want to be a writer when i grow up, maybe for like a newspaper, but I really want to be an architect and an interior decorater or something in design. Maybe a fashion designer.

Or even a country singer! Who knows? but I do want to be on the power of the pen team at school. That's great that you want to be a writer.

You should find out if your school has some kind of program for writing. I hope you find one!
