Lumpy Girl Claire's Diet
Do or Diet

You'll never guess who I saw this week. When I looked in the mirror, I caught a glimpse of the skinny girl!

Lumpy girl stepped aside for just an instant and there she was. First just in the shoulder area and then again later around the collarbone, but I saw her. She looked good.

I had a lot of diet challenges this week too. The worst of which was that I was out of town for two days at a conference. This involved not being able to eat when I wanted, not having access to the foods that I usually eat, and loads of foods I'm not supposed to eat arranged appealingly on large serving platters always within arms reach.

Breakfast buffets, morning and afternoon snack breaks, complimentary drinks. Pastries to the left of me, brownies to the right. It was the smorgasbord from hell.

Luckily for me, I had seen the skinny girl. Knowing that she truly exists, gave me strength in the face of diet adversity. I kept the image of that skinny shoulder and protruding collarbone firmly in my mind and was able to keep to my diet. I even hit the hotel gym and walked 30 minutes on the treadmill!

Skinny girl saved my diet this week.

Other exciting news is that my clothes are starting to bag. They seem to fit fine when I first put them on but after a few minutes they are hanging down around my hips.

It's a real challenge in the morning to find something to wear to work that fits properly (and that doesn't need ironing, if I'm being truly honest - whatever happened to PermaPress?).

I'll bet on my next shopping trip I'll fit into the next smaller size. Perfect! I've found another reason to shop! Not that I needed one, mind you, but "because I lost weight" registers a lot lower on the guilt meter than "just because" does.

Skinny girl honored me with another appearance when I was getting weighed this week. I lost another 4.4 pounds!

That makes my total 9.2 pounds so far, Or
36 sticks of butter Or
36 quarter-pound burgers Or
About a gallon jug of milk.

That's a lot less groceries I'm carrying around every day!

Goals for Week 4:

Investigate a new form of exercise.
Keep up the good work.
Reward myself with a shopping trip.

Things to buy:

Salad spinner
Vegetable steamer
Shorts??
