Energize and Exercise with your preschooler
Reviewed by Anne Mooney

I reviewed the DVD Energize and Exercise with your preschooler. Even though Colin was a little young for it, having just turned 2 and the DVD is aimed at 3 and 4 yearr olds, we both enjoyed it.

I think the DVD is a great idea for several reasons:

The first and to me the most important being the interaction of toddler and parent together having fun.

Secondly the introduction of exercise to very young children through example, just as we introduce them to good hygiene, manners etc. that they will need to be happy healthy children, teens and adults.

With the child obesity rate rising dramatically, along with childhood diabetes an early start to fitness is essential.

I also liked the reinforcement of numbers, letters and other familiar preschool lessons.

The only draw backs I would mention would be if Moms are looking for an intense work out this definitely isn't it, the exercises are mostly geared towards stretching.

Secondly, gearing the DVD to exclusively Moms doesn't acknowledge the vast amount of children cared for by caretakers other than Moms, including stay at home Dads, grandparents and daycare centers.

All in all the video is a great idea and we will definitely use it again.

Notes about the Exercise with Mommy Series:
  • The videos help Mothers fit a great workout into their daily schedule
  • Teaches skills and learning appropriate for child's developmental stages
  • The videos consist of 3 short workouts
  • Graphic animation throughout to help stimulate the child
  • Teaches good fitness habits at the earliest stage possible
