Lumpy Girl Claire Returns!

Hi. My name is Claire, and I'm a diet slacker.

I fell off the diet wagon about a month ago and I have done nothing but pig-out ever since. In fact, there is a frosting smudged plate sitting atop my computer monitor from the chocolate cake I just ate.

I know where I went wrong. I was feeling diet invincible after my 20-pound loss and thought I could eat what I wanted without consequence. And I did for a while. A few blissful weeks of unbridled eating.

Then I noticed that my jeans were getting a little snug. I'd wriggle them on by yanking at the belt loops and then lunge a few times to stretch out the legs. Perfect fit! I blamed the shrinkage on the dryer - until my belly started to mushroom over the top. Ugh!

Wait a minute. That's not me! That's…the Lumpy Girl! Can you believe it? She's back - and just in time for the holidays!

There is no way I'm giving in to the Lumpy Girl. I don't want to continue with my cake-eating, diet-slacking, weight-gaining ways. I want to get back on track, lose the mushroom belly and drop that next 20 pounds.

That's not going to be easy with Holiday parties, Christmas cookies, and festively wrapped chocolate candies waiting to lure me astray.

So I'm starting all over again. I am going to re-learn my diet and go back to eating healthy. I am going to stock my refrigerator with appropriate foods and curtail my indulgences. I want to get those numbers on the scale moving in the right direction again.

Er…and speaking of moving…did I mention that I also quit exercising? (I may be a slacker, but I'm good at it!) I guess I had better start doing something about that too.

Sigh! This isn't going to be easy. This is the "eat comfort food" and "snuggle on the sofa" time of year.

My consequences for being a diet slacker aren't just that I gained a couple pounds and got a little lumpy. I also derailed my goals that I had set at the beginning of summer.

I had wanted to be at my goal weight by December 31st and not have to have "lose weight" as my New Year's resolution. That's not going to happen now. There is no way I can safely lose 20+ pounds in 5 weeks.

So here are my new goals:

1. Get back on my diet.
2. Exercise.
3. Get that scale moving in the right direction.
4. Reach my goal weight by my birthday, April 28.

Care to join me?
Claire
