Big! Bold! Beautiful! Look at me!
That's what we see for Fall 2009.
Colors are rich reds, oranges, blues, greens and purples. Navy is back. Gray and brown are big naturals along with always popular black.
Plaids, patterns, embroidery, quilts, ribbons and bows.
Girly clothes are still here but suits and business clothes are showing up.
Jackets are very popular. They are fitted rather than boxy. Cardigan sweaters are seen everywhere. Vests which we couldn't find for several years are all the rage.
Tunics are a must have. Dresses are popular. Lady-like dressing with shoes, bags and even gloves to match is very trendy. All very feminine and glamorous.
Layering is still big. Your shirt bottoms and sleeves hang below the jacket and that's okay.
Leggings are back and often worn with our long tunics.
Shoes and boots are high high heeled and decorated with pointed toes (ugh). The fashion industry is not leaving us high and dry (it is learning). There are also some dressy flats. Decorations are everywhere and the shoes are not to be denied.
To fit in these glamorous dresses and other fitted items, body shapers have become popular. Remember the girdle? These products are using stretch fabrics we didn't have back then, so hopefully they will be more comfortable. Enough said.
Accessories like belts, scarves and even hair pieces are seen everywhere.
Purses are getting even bigger. The bags we used to call totes are now our everyday
bags. Again color is everywhere. Key chains and novelties hanging off them is popular and the more the merrier. Many are large enough to carry smaller bags inside. Some are even large enough for our paperwork or even laptops.
Jewelry also is big, bold, heavy and glamorous! Rings are gigantic; necklaces are long with everything but the kitchen sink hanging off them. Well maybe there is a kitchen sink and I missed it. I wouldn't be surprised.
Earrings are long. You will find some even have attachments you can add on if they are not glamorous enough for you.
Bracelets are big and chunky and show off nicely with our popular ¾ length sleeves. Long sleeves are seldom seen even on jackets.
All in all it's going to be a fun, glamorous season coming up. Remember each individual gets to pick and choose their own style. Personalizing is half the fun and we have a lot of choices. Even things that are not new or trendy can still be found this year.
