Are you ready for Spring (and Summer) 2009?
Color! Color! Color! Green and yellow seem to be the most popular colors this Spring, but don't discount the violet, corals and aquas. All colors in their brightest hues are everywhere. Navy is back as the neutral and it is looking very chic against these bold colors.
Solid colors take a back seat to big bold prints. Artistic prints, animal prints, huge flowers, plaids and stripes are all supersized.
Jackets are all the rage which is a bit surprising since the warm weather does not usually lend itself to jackets. But this year we will all be sporting one. The short jacket with large buttons is the big winner. I think most of us will try to get a solid bright one, but they're out there in prints too.
Still around from past years is a style I find it hard to warm up to - tees and shirts that fall inches below the jacket and look like they should be tucked in. Examples are everywhere though as layering again shows up on just about every runway.
Once again they make me think more of cold weather. I'm sure these styles will still be very popular in fall and winter. Also very popular this season are tunics.
Feminine details, softly tailored pants suits, daytime dresses, full skirts, taffeta, ruffles, scalloping, organza tiers… yes, the girlie look is definitely "in". Trousers of all lengths are popular as always.
Jewelry too is big, bold, long and colorful. Enamel is very popular and sparkles, sparkles and more sparkles.
Shoes range from very flat to extremely high heels but all are bright and colorful. As is your handbag. Still very large, even tote size and very bright! Crossbody bags are also still the rage - great for traveling and shopping. They'll fit right inside your larger tote too.
Spring and Summer are fun in the sun months. I'll let you know some additional new trends as the season gets closer.
Enjoy the relief from the snow - we deserve it!
Fall Fashion Teaser
Fashion Week in New York just ended. Peeking into New York's Fall Fashion crystal ball I see women getting prepared for a cold winter. I see sweater dresses, long layers, cashmere and knit jersey all highlighting the runways.
Shearling vests will be a Fall/Winter must-have. You're also going to see the upbeat gal in her knee sox, padded shoulders, and leather leggings looking very sexy.
The crystal ball is getting foggy now. It's time to concentrate on Spring/Summer and storing away our gloves and boots.
