Makeup Trends from Fashion Week
by Erin Parsons

Just back from Fashion Week in New York, our Makeup Expert shares some trends

1 - At Calvin Klein, Marc Jacobs, Balenciaga and almost every other show, matte skin is in. Add a little dew to the middle of the face to keep it beautifully natural.

Use Makeup Forever Mat Velvet Foundation for a perfect complexion, and skip the powder. This makeup is truly velvet, not powdery matte.

For the middle of the face and the inside corner of the eyes, use Benefit's High Beam (for a silvery pink shine) or Moon Beam (for a golden pink shine). Or just let your natural oils shine through and instead of banishing shine with powder use a blot paper.

2 - At Rodarte and Dsquared, liquid liner went to outlandish lengths! Whether it was a strong cat eye or lines pushing the makeup enevelope, black, strong liner was all the rage.

It was also used with soft bronzes and golds, or with a bright pop of color for a truly dramatic diva.

My personal favorite black liquid liner is made by Almay. For shimmer and color on the eyes, try amberlights and bronze shadows by MAC. If you'd like to take your look to a whole new level, try Nars South Pacific Duo Eyeshadow.

3 - An orange lip, in all forms were seen at Nanette Lepore, Louis Vuitton, Carolina Herrera, and Alice Temperley. Whether worn as a creamy lipstick, a soft sheen, or a super shiny gloss, orange looks amazing for spring.

To get this look, try Heatwave lipstick by Nars mixed with Babydoll lipgloss by Trish McEvoy. You can also mix washes of fuschia or sheer red gloss to get the look at Carolina Herrera.

Here's some noted looks that never go out of style and for the most part look great on everyone. The smoky eye and the nude lip. At Versace it was bronze with a yellow gold shimmer at the inside corners of the eyes.

At LAMB, it looked like Urban Decay Electric Blue mixed with MAC Contrast shadow in the crease. It was gorgeous but might be left best to the makeup professionals.

At Burberry Porsum it was soft grey, with a white eyeliner inside the eyes to make them larger and brighter.

If you add this with a bit of charcoal grey around the eye and black pencil inside the inner rim you'll get the sexy and strong look at Gucci.

For a nude lip try Nars Chelsea Girls. Its creamy with a bit of gloss, and more pink than brown.
