Each was influential in the business of fashion. Each had deep respect for the other. Each believed that fashion was important enough to require a means of expressing and enhancing the business of fashion in the United States. Fashion did not have to come from Europe; there was wonderful, exciting fashion right here.

By 1930 The Fashion Group was formed as a true business entity. Louis Fairchild donated space in his Women's Wear Daily Building where they stayed until Harper's Bazaar donated a new space on Madison Avenue. By 1934 they were moving to 30 Rockefeller Center partially funded by The Fashion Follies, a humerous look at the world of fashion presented at a Fashion Group Party.

Wildly successful, Fashion Group is now Fashion Group International and accepts male and female members. It boasts branches and members from around the world. Today's board members include the likes of Diane Von Fustenberg, Eveleyn Lauder, Margaret Hayes and Donald J. Loftus, to name a few.

The Cleveland Chapter of FGI is one of the earliest chapters. Regional Director Elect Marlene Kobzowicz recently held a Spring Trends event on March 2, 2011 at Bodega in Cleveland Heights.

Live models and fashion reports were the highlight of the evening. She agreed with "Needles" - longer skirt and amazing vibrant colors are what's happening this spring.
