Bathroom Scale Predictions

My bathroom scales don't just give me my weight - they can also tell the future.

I know what you're thinking; you're thinking…how can I get my hands on bathroom scales like that? What do you mean, that's not what you're thinking?

Scoff if you will, but just this morning my bathroom scales made a prediction of my future weight. There is no other explanation for what transpired.

It happened at my second morning weigh-in. I like to weigh myself when I get up and then again when I get out of the shower. For some reason, I weigh less soaking wet. I know that's not the usual way it works, but who am I to complain?

And maybe it's a bit excessive to weigh myself twice in the morning, but you already know that I like to do things to excess - that's why I'm the Lumpy Girl. Moderation is not my strong suit.

Anyway, the difference between the two weights is usually less than a pound, but on this particular day, the results were quite spectacular.

My initial thought was, am I reading that wrong? I got off and got back on - nope, it was the same number. Somehow, in the space of 30 minutes and a hot shower, I had lost 6 pounds! How was that physically possible? Granted there's a lot of hair product that gets washed out.

I admit I was a little scared at first. Can you get dehydrated that fast while being bombarded with water? Did I lose a body part down the drain? But mostly, I have to say I was thrilled. I hadn't weighed that little for quite some time. Skinny Girl had showed up on the scales!

I nearly wept with joy, but didn't want to deplete my water supply any further and risk losing any more weight.

I think I could have stayed on those scales for hours gazing at that tiny number, but I did have to go to work so, I reluctantly stepped away and got on with my morning routine.

About 30 minutes later, make-up applied and hair properly coiffed, I decided to have one last look at my skinny weight. I happily hopped back on the scales and waited for them to flicker to my lucky number. Much to my dismay that number never came. Instead, those 6 pounds had come back! No lost body parts after all!

Since I'm pretty sure that losing and gaining 6 pounds in an hour is impossible (with or without hair products), my only other explanation is that it was a glimpse into the future. A look at where I'm going to be. The skinny girl revealed!

That number on the scale is not so far away any more. I'm happy to report that I lost 1.2 pounds this week.

This Week's Successes:

  1. I exercised 5 out of 7 days - if shoveling snow counts.
  2. I went out for dinner and got a salad with grilled chicken instead of pasta or pizza.
  3. I ate grapes when I really wanted Tootsie Rolls (which are sitting in a basket on my desk).
Great Dessert Recipe: Pineapple Cake

  • 1 box angel food cake mix
  • 1 can crushed pineapple in juice
  • Mix together in 9 x 13 pan and bake at 350 degrees for 35 minutes.
  • Cool. Eat.
  • Fat-free and fabulous!
Happy Thought:

I lost weight between Thanksgiving and Christmas!!
