Dr. Condoleezza Rice came to the Joseph Beth Booksellers in Cleveland on October 21, 2010 to sign copies of her books, Condoleezza Rice: A Memoir of My Extraordinary, Ordinary Family and Me and Extraordinary, Ordinary People: A Memoir of Family

Dr. Rice served as the 66th United States Secretary of State.

She was the first African-American woman secretary of state, as well as the second African American (after Colin Powell), and the second woman (after Madeleine Albright).

Condi Rice was President Bush's National Security Advisor during his first term, making her the first woman to serve in that position.

Before joining the Bush administration, she was a professor of political science at Stanford University where she served as Provost from 1993 to 1999. Rice also served on the National Security Council as the Soviet and East European Affairs Advisor to President George H.W. Bush during the dissolution of the Soviet Union and German reunification.

She calls her new book a tribute to her parents. She said the book answers the question she gets the most: "How did you get to where you are today?"

Dr. Condi Rice then shared a story about learning to play the piano and how she got to perform with Aretha Franklin last year to benefit charity.
