Ask Rachael
Not a little girl anymore?

My dad is out of control. He wont let me even talk to a boy on the phone. Luckily he has no clue about IM or I'd have no social life.

Boys aren't allowed to pick me up so I have to sneak out or lie to get to see them. I have to change clothes and put on my makeup at a friends house and then change back and wash before going home or he'd throw a fit.

How can I tell him I'm not a little girl anymore?

Dear Growing Up,

You need to confront your dad about this problem, no matter how hard it may seem. It is important for him to know and understand how you feel.

If you do not feel comfortable confronting him or it does not work, then I would suggest talking to another adult who you are close to in your life. Then you could sit down with this other adult and your dad to discuss your concerns.

I am sure he will understand. It is important for you to figure this out with your dad in order to have a healthy relationship.

Good luck and keep me posted.

Rachael
